Dr. Mike C.W. FUNG was born and educated in Hong Kong. He went to US for university studies in Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Distinction) from the Washington State University (1972), and Master of Computer Science from the Pennsylvania State University (1975). After this, he worked at Calgary, Canada. He was an Application Software System Development Project Manager for 10 years. He got his MBA in Finance in University of Calgary (1982), Canada. After this, he became a corporate trainer in Project Management, Financial Management, Total Quality Management and Negotiations over eight years in Canada.
He returned to Hong Kong in 1993, and taught accounting at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Accounting Department as an Assistant Professor. In the evenings, he taught a variety of management courses at Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA). He ran his education institute from 1997 to 2003, offering programs of MBA and Bachelor degrees of Australian and UK universities. After May 2003, he became an independent consultant.
Presently, Dr. Fung is a contract consultant at PVC Strategies Group in their well-established CEO training programs in PRC and Hong Kong. He also acts as a freelance Principal Consultant of Corporate Training at the HKMA and part time lecturer of university degree programs at Hong Kong. He has provided corporate doctor services to Lomak in marketing core competences, PConline in corporate review, Nuskin in goals achievements, Nuskin in health foods regulations, nursing homes retention rate, scorecard management of homes of disadvantaged kids. He doubled his revenues in his own education institute every year from 1997 to 2000, and another institute with same results from 2000 to 2003. He is the Senior Adviser of Chief Representative of Wong On Professional Group, CEO of Faithful International Business Development Ltd, which is a strategic partner with the Hong Kong University Executive Program.
He supervises the PhD students of Business Administration for Bulacan State University- Philippine University, which is a program launched by HKMA. He is also the External Examiner of the university on doctoral students oral defense. He teaches “Managerial Finance” at the Hong Kong Lingnam University, with a student feedback of 5.15/6.00 as one of the top lecturers. He also teaches “Sun Tzu—The Art of War for Commerce” at the Hong Kong University SPACE Program, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the author of “Sun Tzu—The Art of War for Commerce” 2006, and “I Ching: Book of Change—Cracking the secret codes of future telling and applying it” 2007. In addition, he had coached successfully his mentoree Ms. Jamie Chan in gaining the most prestigious Hong Kong Management Association /Television Broadcasting TVB of Outstanding Young Marketer Award 2007.
He is an educator, who brings in powerful learning teams and effective management skills into the classrooms of high school and university. In 2006, the class average marks of a F4 maths students had almost doubled since the implementation of his “Learning Team Methodology”. In fact, these management skills would also be very powerful to be implemented into any corporations. Dr. Fung has written the details in his doctoral dissertation on how to achieve this goal.
He has been honored as a member of International Who’s Who of Professionals (USA 1998) for his years of international delivery of challenging topics in business management and the development of the Learning Team Methodology in Achieving TQM. He is a member of Who’s Who in Alberta (Canada 1995) for his previous years in providing strategic advices and cost-effective solutions to challenging management issues.
He has been an International Management Consultant in the areas of CEO Training, Corproate Doctor Services, Corporate Diagnosis and Turn Around, Management, Strategies, Marketing, Sales, Negotiation Skills, Communication Skills, Strategic Project Management, Risk and Uncertainties Management, Management of Change, Team Building, People Skills and Relations, Financial Management, Management Accounting, Strategic IT Projects, Systems Analysis and Design, Strategic Information, Process Reengineering, TQM, for more than 20 years in Hong Kong, Canada and China.
He had taught Finance, Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Learning Team and Effective Management Skills at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hong Kong during 1993 to 1997. In the same period, he taught a variety of practical management at the Hong Kong Management Association, and Hong Kong Productivity Council. He also taught numerous advanced management subjects at master degree levels at the Deakin University, University of Strathclyde (UK), University of Wales (UK), University of Brunel (UK), University of Warwick(UK) and Zhongshan University 中山大學(Quangdong, China). He had also supervised numerous master degree dissertation projects in the above universities.
